DIY Vanity Stool/Bench

I found this vanity stool/bench at Goodwill last week.  I've been wanting to try painting a piece of furniture, figured I'd try something small. It doesn't really match my house, but I saw some good potential.
I unscrewed the cushion and did a light sanding to the entire piece.
I applied one coat of white spray paint primer and two coats of white spray paint. The finish is smooth, as opposed to using a brush to paint.
I had a few fabric choices, but thought this would be the funnest to use. I bought this at Ikea for $1.99 for the yard back in December. I had no use for it, but thought it was cute.
I found the exact center of the fabric by folding it in half (both ways) and cut it to the size that I needed. When I placed it on the cushion all I had to do was measure the sides to make sure the design fell within the exact center.
What do you think? Total transformation for a few bucks.

Thanks!

See?! That wasn't so bad! And what a great way to find the center of the fabric.
I think maybe why you haven't tackled many painted pieces before is 'cause your fab mid-century inclined-style tends to embrace the look of natural wood. Way to go trying something new!

Next, you need to try glazing!

Isn't it great to find one of those stools? I snatched mine up the second I saw it. Great fabric. You are going to have to do a house tour soon so we can see how your treasures are fitting into the house.

Great job- I have the same fabric but in red. I didn't have any use for mine either, I just made pillows, that I will eventually post on my blog, when I get around to it
