Copycat Valentine's

I saw this Valentine's heart frame by Blooming Homestead and my heart stopped. True love.  Modern, yet not, totally me.  I was determined to replicate this, with my own interpretation (or based on what materials I could find).  I'm telling you, if my area had a Hobby Lobby and my TJMaxx had that same frame, we might have some copyright/stealing/cheating issues between us...I loved it that much.
So I did my rounds of Marshalls and TJMaxx's and found this lovely grey similar frame for $7.99 and some glitter hearts at Michael's for $2.99 for the pack.

I took off the string and using a card stock cut to the size of the frame, I measured out how many hearts would actually fit in the frame and ended up with this. I then hot glued them to the card stock making sure to keep them as straight as possible.

Is this crazy, I found little glitter Easter eggs...Oh Blooming Homestead what you've done to me.

What cute Valentine's ideas have you 'borrowed'?  Any plans for the weekend? I'm trying to convince my husband to help me make a bench for the foot of my bed. I'm not sure if my convincing is working.

 up party!

Mid Century Regrets

Our table was actually given to us by one of my best friends. Her mom had gotten it from a friend who was getting rid of it.  It didn't match the style of her house so they put it in their backyard and used it as a place to paint their baseboards. I never got a before picture, this was years before I even knew what a blog was.  Here it is in the process of getting fixed.
I stripped the varnish and baseboard streaks first.  Then I spent hours, no, I mean weeks sanding the chairs and table.  While the guys were working on building me a house, I sanded and sanded. I convinced my dad to help me a bit in between putting up walls.  It was very tedious work.
I was about 75% done and I gave up. I was beat.  My hands were destroyed and the little help I had gotten had waned.  So my in-laws lovingly found us a little old man that would be able to finish it for us.  It was actually our first Christmas present as a married couple. We are/were so grateful.
Six to seven years ago when we started decorating our house, I wanted everything espresso/mocha color. So we did just that, to this beautiful danish mid century table.  I've loved it for all these years, but my style has changed.  I would love it back in it's original glory.  I've mentioned it to my husband, but I'm not sure if he will go for it.  What would you do?  It is in perfect condition and it's not that I don't love the color, I just feel it takes away from the style of the table.

You Color My World

One of my goals for 2011, is bringing some color into our bedroom.  When I posted this picture, I was a little taken aback at the grayness of it all. I am a fan of gray, and then there is this.  I found lamps that work for my room at Salvation Army and now I need color.

I love these West Elm Lacquer Trays. The yellow is perfect, but I am not loving the price tag.
My inspiration comes from Three Men & a Lady's master bedroom.  I've said it before, I should have a tab on my link bar with Three Men & a Lady inspiration.

I bought 2 of the same trays that Everything LEB used for her incredible tray project for $3.00. I had to borrow her picture, because the lighting was poor on the one I took.

I bought yellow gloss spray paint and just painted them yellow.  They definitely don't have the look of lacquer, but the color is what I was looking for.
What do you think? So who knows my favorite color?
