Week-End Finds

I've had some great finds this past week. My mom and I spent Sunday going to garage sales and thrift stores. We had a great time.  I'm finding a lot of accessories and not any big pieces. Our closest Salvation Army has been closed for a couple of months for a complete renovation, which was desperately needed, however, they are the only thrift store in our area that carries furniture.  So here are my finds-

I know this is terrible, but I am having visions of taking off the hanging votives and replacing it with handmade ornaments.  Let's see what I can come up with.

This cute little elephant was $1.00 at a garage sale.

Wire basket for my office was $.75 at Goodwill

I thought this little container was perfect to hold odds and ends in my office, $3.00 at Goodwill

I got both these frames for $1.00.  One of them had some damage, but nothing that a little cardboard and hot glue couldn't fix. I am thinking for my gallery wall in my office.  I'm thinking black?
Have you had any good finds?

Just Amazed-Free Stuff

I've been finding some great free printables on many great blogs.  Here are some of the ones I'm printing.

From Jones Design Company  some gorgeous Gift Tags.

Katie from Oohmoon will be illustrating one free print per day for an entire year.  Her drawings are adorable.   She just started on December 1st.

Jen from Tatertotsand Jello  posted this link with a bunch of Free Printables that participated in her linky party on Friday.  Here are some of my favorites.

Janet at Todays Fabulous Finds has some great Christmas Subway Art in a bunch of colors. I am printing the grey one.

Aimee at Sprik Space - Year-at-Glance has provided a huge array of 2011 printable calendars. I am printing the yellow one for my cork boards.

Another great printable from A Little Lovely Blog - Subway Art.  I love the song theme.

Happy printing!

DIY Book Page Christmas Tree Tutorial

I found this cone Styrofoam at the Dollar Tree.  I came home trying to think of something I could make with it. I've been loving the look of book pages ever since I made my wreath, I thought I could make use of an old book I had in a pile for Goodwill.
First step, trace a CD on the book page.
 Cut out the circles.

Now, fold them loosely in half.
And in half again.  Make sure you do it loosely.
And again, I found that it looked nicer when the pages were gathered as opposed to folded.
I folded the bottom a bit and just glued it to the cone.
For the top, I used two blank pages found in the book and used the same technique for folding.  I cut off the bottom of the gathered paper before gluing the page directly to the top of the cone.
A Christmas tree made from book pages.  Thanks for reading!

Kayce Hughes Tote is here!

The kaycehughes wool tote that I won during last week's giveaways arrived today.  It is even cuter in person.  You must check out her site.  It was beautifully wrapped in red and white polka dot tissue paper with a beautiful green velvet ribbon with a hand written note.  So lovely.  I should have taken a picture of the packaging before I opened it.

Thank you Kayce!
